PLC/PC Control Systems that
predict critical component maintenance
for HPQ Vacuum Furnaces

SECO/WARWICK has developed PLC/PC based control packages offered on HPQ furnace systems that are designed to support a prognostic maintenance plan.  Prognostics is a concept that has been developed to replace both reactive (response to breakdown) and preventative (trying to project maintenance needs in advance) programs by using computer technology to predict and prevent possible fault or system degradation before failures occur.

The system analyzes furnace performance by monitoring all critical components such as vacuum pumps, valves, SCR, contactors, actuators, safety switches, heating elements, water flows, etc.   Sensors monitor such parameters as motor vibration, motor temperature, motor electrical power characteristics, water flow & temperature and heating element resistance.   Data indicating parameters outside of the established norm triggers a signal, e-mail or pager notification of a variance in component operation that can in turn, predict that a component is at risk for failure.  This type of system can be programmed to integrate with your facility ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System).

The latest design, materials and equipment specifications should be obtained from the company before any reliance is placed on the enclosed since changes may occur due to product improvement.
